Georgia has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from 60-90 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. The state is home to an abundance of natural resources such as timber, cotton, peanuts, peaches and tourism which have all contributed to its economic growth. Georgia also has an abundance of outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, boating, swimming and more. With its many rivers and lakes there are plenty of opportunities for water sports such as kayaking and canoeing. There are also numerous hiking trails for those who want to explore the outdoors on foot. Georgia’s coastline offers plenty of beach access points with stunning views of forests and mountains that provide a great atmosphere for relaxation or recreation. No matter what your interests may be there is something for everyone in Georgia! In addition to outdoor activities, Georgia offers plenty of cultural attractions including museums, theaters, galleries and historic sites that showcase the state’s unique history and culture. The state also hosts several popular festivals throughout the year such as Savannah’s St Patrick’s Day Festival, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park and Sweet Auburn Music Fest in Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn district which attract millions of visitors each year. According to Thembaprograms, Georgia is home to a wide variety of plants and trees, many of which are native to the state. The flora of Georgia includes over 4,000 species of vascular plants, including approximately 2,800 species of flowering plants. Trees native to Georgia include several species of oak and maple as well as hickory and sweetgum. Other native trees include loblolly pine and bald cypress. Shrubs such as blueberry and bayberry can be found throughout the state in Georgia’s woodlands. Wildflowers like the yellow-orange goldenrod and the white wild chicory can be found throughout the state in springtime. Many species of grasses also thrive in Georgia’s mild climate. The state is home to several national parks – Chattahoochee National Forest, Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Cumberland Island National Seashore – that provide opportunities for visitors to observe Georgia’s diverse flora in its natural environment.
