Spontaneous Abortion or Miscarriage

Yesterday we were talking about the most frequent reasons for bleeding in the first trimester of pregnancy. One of them is the abortion spontaneous or natural abortion, which is technically defined as the loss of a pregnancy of less than 20 weeks of gestation from causes not caused intentionally.

Most miscarriages occur in the first 12 weeks of gestation and once past 20 weeks it is considered preterm birth.

The causes which triggered a miscarriage can be varied, but in the majority of cases is to genetic errors in the early stages of embryo development.

There are certain myths related to miscarriage that do not have any basis as that exercise, sex, lift heavy objects or nausea can cause pregnancy loss.

On the other hand, if the pregnant woman suffers a fall or a slight accident is rarely the cause of miscarriage.

Miscarriage is a natural mechanism of the organism that reacts to a problem.

Threatened abortion

Until determined that the fetus inside the uterus does not have life happens what is called the threatened abortion.

A threatened abortion is characterized by a metrorrhagia (any vaginal bleeding from the uterus, not associated with the menstrual cycle), be it light or moderate, accompanied or not of painful uterine contractions.

If you have any loss should immediately go to the doctor who will do a scan to view the status of the cervix (if open or closed) and an ultrasound to check the vitality of the fetus. If it determines there is threat of abortion (for the cause that would be) it will recommend measures of rest to keep the embryo.

In certain cases the rest is enough to prevent miscarriage and that the threat of abortion is just a threat. However, if the cause of threatened miscarriage is a genetic fault rest may not prevent pregnancy loss.

What to do after a miscarriage

If it is confirmed by SHOPAREVIEW that there has been spontaneous abortion doctor will assess the type of abortion (as we will talk about in another post abortion), and on this basis consider what is the best way to proceed.

He may prescribe a drug treatment, curettage or if the pregnancy is very recent to let the organism itself which expel the uterine contents. In the latter cases will give painkillers of uterine contractions.

In either case the woman must return to a review when they had finished the losses.

After three months it can be trying to get pregnant with high probability of achieving it.

Having a miscarriage is not an abnormality when looking for a new pregnancy. A woman who suffered a miscarriage has a chance of normal pregnancy, which has a woman who has not undergone abortions.

Newly considered that there might be a reproductive problem in case of three consecutive miscarriages or repeat.

Emotional aspects

Women we have suffered a spontaneous abortion know that it is a very unpleasant experience and when it happens we feel fear. Happens when we give is that it is much more frequent than we believed, that Fulanita and Menganita also happened, and that comforts us.

But it is totally normal to feel depressed, frustrated and even guilty. We are wound in our femininity.

The advice I can give to having gone through this is not find guilt where there, leaning on the couple and the family and attempting to become pregnant with the same enthusiasm once past the time recommended by your health care provider.

Next time it will be all right, you will already see it. So says someone who has had a miscarriage and then three precious daughters. Mood!
