Expectations were high: had cleared in the issue 11/07 Atlas cables and highlights galore with its cheaper creations. So we were curious to see what do the Scots in their topline. For the Ascend 2.0, the Scots were economical and took a delicate cross section of 2 mm2, think but gave high-purity copper, which is manufactured in the Ohno continuous casting process. The individual wires they evenly concentric positioned so as to as close as possible together. This reduces the inductance and an extended frequency response.
The insulation of the outward and return conductor is realized with expensive, low-loss and thin Teflon. Thus, the conductors of close together can be, twisted, what keeps the inductance. The harness is surrounded by cotton threads and protected by a PVC jacket.
In the listening room, the ascent 2.0 against the stereoplay highlight Fadel art Greylitz MK II (10/09) beat considerably. Its balanced nature countered it still more precise demarcation of individual instruments and slightly deeper stage. It’s offered aren’t the accuracy of bass Fadel art, mediated but more sparkling basin. The Atlas worked out closer even subtle intonations, where it could offer not the sound colors of the Greylitz MK II. So the Ascend 2.0 with its sound tendency for more bass-heavy chains, which showed it is advisable that of somewhat better with power amplifiers Mono blocks McIntosh MC 1.2 KW AC harmonized as with the Thorens TEM 3200.
