Samsung is-like other smartphone manufacturers also-for the fact that they are using theAndroid OS its own user interface to adjust the operation to their own system. In the case of the South Koreans it is TouchWiz. By the beginning of next year, Samsung smartphones will receive their update on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. So far, the new OS was only seen on the previously not available in Germany Galaxy Note 5. But how do the changes for TouchWiz look under the new Android version and when can we expect the update?
With every update of Google’s Android, the smartphone manufacturers have also made various changes to their user interfaces. Features, designs and various controls have been adapted to facilitate the handling of smartphones. TouchWiz is a good example of how these changes can be affected. With the update on Android 5.0 Lollipop, Stock-Android at the time received the newmaterial design. This was the ideal opportunity for Samsung, also to provide TouchWiz with a few innovations. The models Galaxy S and Galaxy Note have taken a big step forward in terms of operation and appearance.
Touchwiz: Color Adjustments
Also Android 6.0 Marshmallow is to bring with it a lot of new functionality and design. At the same time, Samsung also revises its TouchWiz to give users the best possible experience. Smaller changes in design are particularly noticeable in the coloring of individual elements. In the future, the quick settings and notifications will no longer appear in turquoise, but in a pleasant white hue. The symbols themselves remain in their tried and tested Android green. Nevertheless, everything seems a bit more balanced and quiet, for the user simply pleasant.
Also in the settings, Samsung has rotated something at the color screw. The symbols for the respective areas now appear somewhat brighter and no longer so obtrusive. This subtler line does not touchWiz however completely. The previous lockscreen showed the icons for the camera and the phone so far in a pale gray tone. Now, these symbols get strong colors.
Touchwiz: Changes In Performance
Samsung has not only worked on the look of its user interface. Particularly pleasing are the innovations in terms of the performance of Android Marshmallow. According to a GeekBench 3 benchmark, Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs along with TouchWiz slightly more fluently than the Lollipop version. These, however, are mere numbers. The useful impression seems to be confirmed. At least a user in the XDA Developer Forum announced that TouchWiz together with Android Marshmallow felt easier and more liquid. One reason for this is the better use of the memory.
When Comes Android 6.0 Marshmallow For Samsung?
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 still receives the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow this year. It is to be executed in December. Then, first detailed tests of TouchWiz under Marshmallow are possible.Smartphones of the S6 family (Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 edge+) are to follow in January 2016.Here the date was pushed backwards. Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge are due in February to benefit from Android Marshmallow. Older flagships and the Samsung Galaxy Alpha are not expected to get an update before the spring. We will keep you up to date when things change.
